Some of you will have heard from me before, but for the benefit of others i'm on the fence about upgrading at the moment or not.
I need to get my Graphics performance up, but have an AGP system.
It has to go.
Here's what I was thinking.
GX-044-CO Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO) £199.95
CP-150-AM AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 90nm (Socket 939) - OEM (CP-150-AM) £122.95
MB-091-AB Abit AT8 ATI RD480 Crossfire (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-091-AB) 374.95
FG-000-AR Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940) (FG-000-AR) £14.50
Subtotal £412.35
VAT £72.17
Total £484.52

Something along that lines. I'd be using my 1gig of OCz premier ram that I already have, as well as hard drives cd-rom etc.
The only other thing I think i need to upgrade (apart from mobo, cpu, gfx) is the PSU. The one I have just now is 450W but i don't think it is ATX 2.0.
PC will be for downloading/browsing mostly, although I would like to be able to run games at a 1024x768 with settings at high..
If sum1 could spec me an upgrade for under £600 for a Mobo that will let me OC to a FSB of 300MHz but lock my ram at stock, is relatively easy to OC stabally. I've taken a shine to the ATi X1800 and think that £200 is a bargain for the performance you get, so I wouldn't really budge on my graphics choice. Everything else is open to debate, except from my ram, I know it's not the best, but it will do for now.
Have fun guys, i'm off to bed now. Will look in on your hard work in the morning.
Just for those who are saying "not him again" or "can't he just decide on what to get and buy it?" I will take the plunge this time. £600 laid aside waiting. HELP ME SPEND IT WISELY!
