well i read the sticky but i would like to ask some other types of questions mainly about voltages and cooling

what is the ideal vcore voltage for a core duo 2 e6300 or generally
what should the cpu temps not exceed

Ideal would be as low as possible
Intels specification:
0.850V-1.3525V
61.4 DegC Max

Out of spec limits are CPU and cooling solution dependant.

But from what I have gathered from various O/C threads
70 Deg+ underload is a no no, preferably C2D should be below 65 at all times
1.65v is rare and only acceptable IF you have an excellent cooling setup.
1.45v is common even on air.

My 6400 is at 3.2Ghz, 1.34v. and maxes at 62DegC. My CPU cooling is limiting how far I can push.

If anyone has read of or has a C2D outside the extremes I have noticed, then please contribute.

so,,

so your rig is running at 6.4ghz in total.
is the performance speed huge.

im on a amd64 athlon single core.
if i was to switch 2moro would i see a major difference..

by the way are u using stock cooler or did u buy a zalman or tuniq to cool ** cpu

Each core of the CPU runs at 3.2GHz. I suppose this could be described as the equivalent of a single core at 6.4Ghz. Though this is not the usual way to visualise CPU power. However there is an overhead in managing the extra core which would more likely make 2x3.2Ghz cores equate to a single 6.0Ghz core.

I am using an Akasa 961 to cool CPU at the moment. imho it is better than stock but not by much.(what I have read) I have an OEM chip.

I upgraded from an XP3200+. I noticed an impressive speed increase, even more so in benchmarks, a 4 to 9 times increase in speed, CPU only.

In a nutshell, my E6400 at 3.2GHz is upto 9 times faster at CPU benchmarks than my XP3200+. I would imagine should you upgrade you would realise a similar increase in CPU performance.

Remember though the CPU is not the whole story, it is just one of many parts that make a PC. My Core 2 system is no way near 9 times faster than my XP3200+ system. Using word, surfing, watching TV, listening to MP3's presents no discerable difference between this and my old box.

Music production, gaming and video editing is where the speed increase is noticed.
