if i close the msi afterburner window does that mean that the overclock has been disabled? i noticed it when i put the fan speed into 60% then i can hear a loud noise from my video card then when i closed the afterburner the noise went like my fan speed is at 30%.

Yes if you exit MSI Afterburner then the overclocking done by it will cease to take effect until next time you run it.

You could run MSI Afterburner and minimise the window.

If you want permanent oc without having to run MSI Afterburner then you'd have to edit and flash the BIOS of the graphics card.

tempting but im not sure if my TF III has been laser cut. any way to find it out?

If u want to run the overclock 24/7 then go into the settings and the general tab of Afterburner and check the boxes for "start with windows""start minimised" and on the front of the UI under the profiles buttons click "apply overclocking at system startup"
Now u can just forget about it.

As Krony has said above. That's all you need to do luckyguy20

Flashing the bios just isn't needed.
