Hi all,

I have an ASUS A7V600 motherboard with an Athlon Barton 2500 CPU. I currently have PC2700 (2x256MB) and has been working fine up to date with a fsb of 166MHz, as selected automatically by the BIOS.

I have just purchased a 1 GB stick of PC3200 with the aim of running the fsb at 200MHz (obviously without the PC2700 installed...) and installed it into slot 1.

However, when I try to boot, the system just powers up and doesn nothing. Blank screen, no beep to say everything is ok. (if i install the memory into slots 2 or 3, I get continual beeping noises (persuming that it cant' find the memory).

I have tried this in a Dell P4 machine and the same thing happens.

Does this sound like the memory is dead?

Can you run PC3200 at 166MHz? (i.e. underclock it)

Hmm...that's what I'm thinking...

Another question...could have the PC3200 and the PC2700 in the same system? (running fsb at 166?)? I used to run combinations of PC100 & 133 without any probs, but never tried it with DDR...
