newbie seeking advice

Hi all,

I am after advice on my build and this forum seemed best place.

I can't seem to find the right section to post my potential build list for review.

Main advice is whether to go for i5 4690k or the g3258. I plan on over clocking the nuts of it.

In terms of performance you're really comparing apples and oranges. The G3258 and 4690K are both designed to be overclocked and with sufficient cooling should do a good job of just that.

If you just want to mess around and learn then a G3258 will do the job but it's not a patch of the 4690K in terms of performance. You need to tell us what you're planning on using your computer for and what other hardware you have with that? Your best option is to post in the hardware section of the forum, in this case the CPU section.

Plan is mainly home based computing and delving into a little gaming.

Always wanted to build own pc and over clock it. Love tinkering. So cooling options will interest me.
