Hi all,

I have been stalking these forums for a while but as I now have permission from the wife ( yes I am PW ) for a new build thought I would ask your opinions.

I am an old timer who's first PC was a 386 - it had a little button on the case which when you pressed it turned on turbo mode ... 33mhz. Jealous huh.

Since then I have moved thru the years with a 486, Pentium, K5, Athlon and so on and although I have never built from scratch I have rebuilt and upgraded many many times.

So to the point...

I have £500 and I want a 4670k based machine.

To save money I will not be upgrading my graphics - My 4870 will just have to last a couple of months longer, I know I wont get the most out of my system till I do and will be looking at mid range when I do upgrade, 7950 or GTX760.

Main use will be everything. Gaming, internet, office.

What I am really looking for this time is a quiet system - so the case is probably what I need most advice on - reviews are fine but user experience is better.

Motherboard - Any make - single slot graphics is fine I wont use dual graphic cards - I cant explain one £200 card but I cant explain why I need another identical card...lol

The parts I have which will transfer are:

Ssd
Optical drive
Windows.

Possibly HD but at the current prices don't really see the point of not getting a new, better and bigger model.

Ok - that's about it. - I have to cut and run as its time for work - so apologies as I wont reply until late tonight.

Many Thanks.

Better mobo with a decent heatsink included for free, it will overclock better than the HD3. Case is soundproofed as you wanted to keep things quiet. There is no extra storage but my buddy Idleman has already pointed out a good 1TB HDD for you should you want to stretch the budget a bit.

To be honest, you may not even need that 4870.
I am building a PC right now, playing and watching videos on integrated HD 4600 on my 4770k and its very good. I can even play Mechwarrior Online on low settings and get playable fps - that's Cry Engine 3.
So maybe you can sell your gpu and add few more £££ to your budget :)

Thanks for the suggestions - I appreciate the effort.

I will have a look into both cases.

Whenever I have tried to price a system up I have always struggled finding everything I needed without going over budget. This has given me plenty to think about.

Bart. I couldn't sell my 4870 - it would be like selling one of the children.
