Good evening,

Well, I think it is high time I got myself two polarising filters for my Nikon D80. One each for my two lenses. I have got the standard 18-135mm 3.5-5.6 Nikkor AF-S kit lens which came with the camera and the Tamron 70-300mm 4.0-5.6 APO DG Macro lens. I've heard a lot about these "Hoya Lenses" and thought I'd price myself out some for my lenses. I'm a newbie when it comes to Photography and thought it best that I seek out some 'professional advice! ' :D before I press the order button.

So, for my Nikon I have gone for the Hoya 67mm Circular Polarizing Glass Filter. Is this a good choice at £20.99?

And for my Tamron I have gone for the Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizing Glass Filter. Is this also a good choice at £17.99?

Thanks in advance!

Whappers.

why are you getting polarising filters? they're quite specialised. you use them for avoiding glare while looking through reflective transparent things like glass windows and water.

what it comes down to is, what do you need them for?

Whappers, good choice, seems like a decent price too. I probably wouldn't but a CPL for a 70-300 myself but it's up to you.

You can not be serious!? A polarising filter is absolutely essential! It should be the first thing you buy for the camera. It is also the best bang-per-buck accessory you can buy.

Basically, if the sky is in your shot, you need a CPL. Look at my gallery, see those rich blue skies? You need a CPL to get those.

I agree with robertgilbert86. Decent choise of filters and decent price. I think you'll get more use of a CPL for wide angle stuff, so you might want to hold off getting one for your 70-300 for now.
