If the second slot on the motherboard runs at 8x, making both the slots run at 8x when in SLi mode what difference does that make it make compared to a board that allows them to both run at 16x?

prob none, assuming its PCI-E x2, if its PCI-E x1 it would throttle the card, or if you were SLI'ing 2 295s it would throttle the card, basically its the speed they transfer data at, but there arent many cards that exceed that speed
