Hello, all seems ok power wise and bios recognises HDD and DVD.

error message reads

Boot from CD/DVD (no keys asking to be pressed)
Disk Boot Failure Insert System Disk and Press Enter

DvD writer is IDE
Win7 is original copy (OEM version)
I've changed IDE cables and set boot order in bios to CDRom first, HDD second, disabled third.
**edit** DvD drive jumper set to Master

sys specs are

Mobo - Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R

Processor - Intel Core i5 750

PSU - Antec TP-650

HDD - Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache

GPU - Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 Vapor-X 1024MB

whelp...

Turns out that the DvD burner broke in the transfer from the old Pc to the new one.

Downloaded WinToFlash , bought the neighbour a beer and created a Win7 bootable USB key from my OEM disk on his Pc. Worked a treat.

Thanks marmalade for the idea :)
