Have not delt with Dell servers for erm, about ever.... I'm used to HP stuff, so is there a USB option available for Openmanage install DVD, where it'll let me create one and also have my OS ISO images on it too?

I can do this with HP smartstart, but I dont see any options for creating USB bootable with teh Dell kit.

Thanks

I don't think thats an option, we use the Dell Build DVD to start off the OS install process and after you've put a few details it will ask for the OS DVD/CD.

OpenManage Server Administrator is the software you install afterwards to manage the server, check hardware, setup additional RAID volumes that type of thing!

Is there a firmware upgrade iso available for all poweredge servers, like the HP proliant firmware iso? I cant be arsed to hunt down all everything seperately.

I think there is, best thing to do is search for the server service tag here:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/rc1050265/DriversHome

It will show you all the downloads for your server and the iso's etc. When downloading the FW or drivers select the window packages (you may have to select "more download options") as they are really easy to install on windows servers but if you don't have windows then it's a bit more tricky!

Hope this helps anyway ;)

I reckon the op means the "start here" pre OS install disk, they're often labelled as openmanage disks if I remember rightly
