Hello! I am 25 years old, have been driving since I was 17 and I quite fancy the idea of having a bike. My friend let me have a go on his Honda Hornet and I really enjoyed it, picked it up pretty quick too.

I've been having a look around and I quite fancy an MT-07 but I have a few questions. I hope you guys can help answer.

I will obviously need to do a DAS after a CBT and theory.

For CBT and DAS are bikes provided, or do I need to provide my own bike?

Will I be looking at monumental insurance premiums being a new rider on an MT-07?

What are good brands of gear? I don't want to skimp out but also don't want to spend a fortune. I'll need gloves, helmet, jacket etc. Any tips?

Are there any schools that people would recommend in the Farnborough/Aldershot/Ash area that people would recommend?

Thanks guys!

Either. You can pay to rent one from the instructor.

Is it new? If it's new, yes, if it's relatively old, no - Go to confused.com - fill out what you need to and you'll get some realistic quotes.

Go to sportsbikeshop.com and see what's popular - they're great to order from because of their free returns.

If you don't mind a bit of travelling it might be worth seeing what bike shows are on in your area. I know in a few weeks there is a MCN festival in Peterborough that I'm going to for the purpose of trying on gear, you get show prices so things are cheaper than normal due to being left-over stock. Worst case scenario you buy nothing but know what size you need when ordering online, rather than guessing.

I disagree. I've found that prices are actually a little more than shopping online. When you have the option of ebay, amazon, sportsbikeshop, getgeared, helmetcity etc then most of the time you can get a better deal than if you were to go to a bike show.
