HI ive been a lurker on the forums for a while however im having quite a few problems with my latest build which was sort of a budget build as i blew as my old PC died it seems to freeze randomly, the build consist of the following:
My Old Sata HDD
AMD FX-4100
Asus M5A88-V EVO
4GB XMS3 PC3-10666MHz & 4gb of normal RAM from the approved RAM list(tryed by its self)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
6850 OC edition
Corsair Gamer Series GS 600W '80 Plus' Power Supply

The PC just seems to freeze at random points, it can freeze when playing a game when there is nothing going on but play fine when in a massive battle, it can freeze when loading a game up. It does very occasionally freeze when not on games as well, anyone got any ideas? thanks in advance for any

Added: I also did a fresh install of Windows 7 64bit when i did the new system

Ill have a check on the PSU when i get home as im at work atm, & in regards to the RAM i got the 4GB XMS3 PC3-10666MHz & was getting this problem so i went & got a 4gb stick from the compatibility list & ran that by itself & still got the problem so thought may as well put both sticks in

What is the other set of Ram you are using. You may also want to try another Psu( maybe a friend or family member can lend you theirs), as the Sumvision is not a great Psu.

the other set of RAM is a Bog standard Kingston 4GB, I know the PSU isn't amazing but it worked fine on the pc before this one & it should be enough power for this set up ( the other GPU's o have was a 5450 & a 880GTX & it has frozen on all 3 graphics cards.

If it is the PSU or that's what it looks like then ill get a new one just don't really want to waste any money. I've checked with friends & can't borrow one if you can recommend a half decent/cheapish one ill look at buying it on payday. also it sometimes freezes when plugging/removing USB devices even if you safely remove them.

Thanks for the help so far :D

ive just tried a complete fresh install of windows on a different HDD as I had a spare one & don't get paid till the end of the month, can anyone recommend a decent PSU that isn't to expensive ?

So what happens when your PC 'Freezes'? Does it just stay frozen for ever more? Or does it bluescreen and reset etc etc

it just stays frozen no sound, cant move anything i have to power off & on to get it working again, & no blue screen

I 'm sorry I didn't see the thread sooner.

The CMOS reset should be your first port of call. Nice to see you got a better PSU (not what i would have picked but hey ho).

Buying 1333mhz RAM was a lil foolish. 1600mhz isnt much more and would help you if you wanted to overclock the CPU. If the CMOS reset doesnt cure your woes I would look to manually set the RAM timing.

just reset the CMOS & still Freezing, Just about to set the timings on the RAM now to see if that cures it

Anyone got any other ideas?

Only 2 parts i haven't changed is the Mobo & the CPU which i don't really want to buy another as if i was to do that id rather try & return the parts & Swap to Intel as i've had a lot of problems with this build.
