Hi all,

I've just recently built a brand new PC with the following specs:

E6600 core2duo (with stock intel heatsink for now)
Abit AW9D-MAX intel 975x motherboard
2gb geil pc6400 800mhz RAM
BFG 8800 GTS 640mb
BFG 800w PSU

Very impressed so far with the performance, especially games but i've been reading how easily overclockable the e6600s are and was wondering how to go about it.

Bear in mind I only have the stock intel heatsink for now and am a total newbie at overclocking - can anybody give me any pointers to articles to read or any hints and tips?

Thanks all I appreciate any replies.

The simplest way is to go into the bios and up the fsb speed.

Say you wanted to run at 3ghz, then you'd up the fsb from 266mhz to 334mhz.

Save and exit and viola! Next time you boot its 3ghz.

There are other things like voltages that can be tweaked and adjusted depending on how far you want to go, but for now I'd just stick to the simple stuff.

Try reading HERE for more information.

Hi very similar spec to mine, should OC well seems most 6600 do and I have had no probs with the Abit :)

This is how we build them at work (OcUK Tech) with your exact same CPU, RAM and MOBO:

FSB @ 334Mhz
CPU Vcore @ 1.4V
RAM @ 667MHz (which will pull up to 817MHz when you up the FSB to 334MHZ
RAM Voltage @ 2.1
RAM Timings @ 15, 5, 5, 4

Turn off USB Legacy in BIOS
Set PCI-E FSB to 101MHz

That should Give you 3GHz to be getting on with mate! :D

Job done.
