Hi all,

I've always used one specific news app which displays one line titles from each news source. E.g. one tab will be for UK news and will first display BBC then Guardian, etc. However recently the app has been getting worse and worse and it missing several key features.

I've always avoided individual apps for each source as it means I have to check several apps. RSS readers get clogged with news and I want something pick up and go. I HATE apps which take up room by including images with the each title. I'm teaching myself to code iOS apps and decided to make my own!

My question is; if you could have the perfect news app how would you lay it out?
  1. News tabbed by category (along the bottom) then display each source. Possibly with a "top stories" tab.
  2. A tab per source and then each category broken down.
  3. A tab per category and then one long list, utilising Google News technology to combine news articles, so I don't have to read similar titles over and over.
Cheers guys. I doubt this would ever make the app store, I'm just trying to come up with some funky ideas

I like flipboard for flicking through News feeds. Either set up your own twitter list with all your favourite papers' feeds amalgamated. Or add individual newspapers feeds (BBC, guardian, etc) to the flipboard page.

As for your question, a great app would choose how you wanted to display selected feeds. Perhaps check/uncheck the feeds you want to read/hide, then an option for selecting 1, 2, or 3!

Pulse news is pretty good too. I use it everyday and it has a good library of sources to add in plus has the ability to read the feeds from a Google Reader account.
