Hi

I currently have a small home server running gentoo and hellanzb. I was thinking of trying out Windows Home Server for no reason other than just trying it. I wondered if there was anything similar to hellanzb for windows as this is the only thing holding me back atm. Im basically looking for an automated way of dealing with (legal) nzb files

They beauty of hellanzb is that you dont need to do anything. It runs as a daemon and at a basic level all you need to do is pop an nzb in a folder and it will do the rest, from download to check to extract. The web interface means i can do it from work/other location just by queuing up an nzb. It also integrates with ******* (but i dont use that anymore) and has some (one maybe) firefox extension.

Im familiar with newsleecher as that what i use on windows, and im sure that can be setup to do checking and extracting. Im not sure how automated it can be from a queue poitnt of view.

I prefer Alt.Binz over Newsleecher, you have to pay for Newsleecher where as Alt.Binz is free. It has everything Newsleecher has and it is a lot more stable in my opinion.

I'm not sure about the automisation features, I just click and download

If you've set it up right, you just need to open an NZB file from wherever (could just open it straight from firefox) and it'll add all the files to your queue, download them, fix any errors, extract it, delete all your .rar and .par2 files and remove the unused .par2 files from your queue.

This looks promising but its the remote aspect i would like most. If newsleeacher or whatever is running on WHS, can i kick of a download from a local desktop or my work?

There's an NZB file scanner option where you can set Newsleecher to Auto import *.NZB and *.NZB.ZIP files from a certain folder, and it can be on a network drive. I don't have a home server or anything to try it out with though.

One point, and i'm not sure if this is just on my PC, but Newsleecher repair and extract BSOD's my WHS as soon as it starts verifying the files.

This is probably something to do with WHS, disk management system , but i've had to disable it for now.
