Hello,

I am very experienced with computers but newsgroups are something I have never really got into. I would like to ask some questions:

1. What can you download from newsgroups?
2. What is the best newsgroup provider?
3. Why should I use newsgroups over any other services?

Thank you.

1, Literally anything. If you can obtain it via torrents chances are you can obtain it via newsgroups.

2, Everyone will have their own favourite. I haven't used newsgroups for a couple of years but when I did I couldn't fault newsdemon.com

3, Direct, and secure, connection between you and a host server. No multitude of peers like you get with torrents. Also with a decent newsgroup provider you'll be able to max-out your connection speed wise.

Things you'll need -

A source for your NZB files. EG - Newzbin

A newsreader. EG - Grabit

A newsgroup provider. EG - Newsdemon.com

An archive recovery and verification tool. EG - Quickpar

Just to second what Griff said.

1. Pretty much anything you can think of.
2. Have been using Newsdemon for years and they are great, they offer a pay as you go service to try it out and see if you like it.
3. Secure connection using SSL and 1295 day retention, meaning you will get full speed downloads on aything that has been uploaded within the last 1295 days.

Also if you use a client like Sabnzbd it will auto repair and extract your downloads.

Trust me, once you try it you'll never look back.
