Newsgroups / Router / Speed splitting

Me and flat mate on 2mb virgin, with netgear router, both using giganews along with grabit, for newgroup services.

When both using it, one will go really fast and the other will be going around 10kbs.

Any way to make it so it just splits evenly?

Your best bet may be limiting the bandwidth your news client can use on each PC by installing Netlimiter or similar.

Newsbin Pro has a bandwidth limiter built in, but it does'nt have the search facility of Grab-It,

You could just use Grab-it to download the NZB then import this into Newbin Pro. Unless you already use an NZB site..

If you are lucky enough that your router has some basic QoS you could implement that, but most do not.
I have the same problem, my missus nicks all my bandwidth the moment she fires up her torrent client even if I have sessions open - drives me up the wall.
Might have to install netlimiter to sort it out!!
