As above, very good technical guru but on this one I think his thoughts are misplaced. Plenty of examples in his blog comments about software that relies upon a unique sid.
Main problem i have with this is it causes me a major problem with our switch over to windows 7, sysprep doesn't quite cut the mustard and NewSID appears to break windows 7, i was hoping he was going to update NewSID for windows 7 but appears i have to find alternative means of newsidding machiens now. That or find a way of making sysprep work with our requirements in mind. bah
Interesting read. It boggles the mind thinking about how many machine hours over the years have been crunching away at newSID.
The first thing that popped into my mind was a horror story about WSUS and he does concede there is an issue. I've no doubt Mark is technically correct but the reality is cloned SIDs will break some software and for that reason alone I'll still be running it.
