just bought a e6400 (running at stock 2.1)

looing in the bios of my mother board (asrock 775dual vsta)

I see to options im unsure about

thermal throttling (enabled)
speedstep (auto)

both can be set as above or disabled.

i seem to remember some post on here that at least one of those shoudl be disabled, but I cant find it.

Also, (and the reason i was looking in bios) Any pci cards I put in dont seem to get accepted ,windows doesent think i have put any new hard ware in

It am running a pci-e graphics card, if that has any thing to do with it

Does any body have any ideas on that?

HI
At a guess i would say thermal throttling is if the cpu gets too hot it will automatically decease the speed of the cpu to cool it down. (helpfull in overclocking)
And speedstep (auto) is the cpu's way to save power by decresing the speed of the processor thus using less energy ( this should be disabled if overclocking)

Dont know about the other bit sorry.

in task manager, I have two graphs to show its dual core, but under the green usage monitor, I have a constant red line of peeks, It doesent go higher than the green one, but it does get very close on some peeks,

does any body know what htat is all about?
