I'm just wondering whether to upgrade my not-so-great FX-4100 now to an 8350 or wait until the next batch comes out. the 8350 came out in October I believe so if they come out every year then hopefully October time. I'm using my PC for gaming mostly and a spot of video editing and it can struggle a little bit so I would really like an Octo-core to be honest!

Just wondering what you people think.

Short spec list of my PC:
FX-4100, at stock speeds at the moment
Cooler Master Elite 212
Biostar TA990FXE
16GB G-Skill 1600Mhz
MSI 7950 Twin Frozr
Samsung 830 256GB SSD (Boot)
Seagate Barracuda 2TB

Thanks!

There's uncertainty whether or not AMD are going to release an AM3+ replacement for Piledriver this year.
Steamroller for AM3+ is due 1H 2014 so it's unlikely that they'll release anything but a Piledriver refresh.

Yeah, if it's a refresh it'll hopefully cost no more than the 8350's at the moment (Around £150 - £160?) so I'll probably upgrade to that in the Autumn. I'm not looking to replace my motherboard any soon either!

Thanks for your help!

With the release of the fx9000 coming soon as amd's new flagship, and for that price, would they release another mainstream refresh that would top it?

Knowing AMD, probably. Richland is just out the door and Kaveri is just around the corner. The FX9xxx chips are probably so short in supply it's unlikely to make a difference. TBH for OP, I'd just bag an FX8320 and be happy

With a 990FX board, definately get a 8320 and clock like the wind!

Like history repeating itself with the phenom II twkr. A 4 core deneb which would on average get 4ghz on air? After that they released the 980 which could get 4.2+ average?
Then turban toped them both, and a lot cheaper. Amd makes no sense sometimes. :)
