Hi guys & gals!

Just briefly starting to put a build together (ordering in a months time or so) and I'll be building basically a completely new rig as my old one (4800X2 A8N-SLI mobo + 2x 7800 GTXs) is getting past it(built Oct 05).

The main use of the PC will be for gaming with its other uses being AutoCAD/Building Design software + photography uses (editting etc whatever the g/f needs it for).

Thoughts so far:

CPU: I'd like to go for an Intel (either i7 920 or Q9550 depending on what
you guys think is appropriate) and will be looking to dabble with some OCing.

RAM+Mobo: to suit the above.

Hard drives: I like look the look for the sammy SDD for use as my boot drive then with a larger standard drive as my storage.

Case: If I can, I'll use my old one (TJ04- Silverstone) but I've got a feeling it won't be big enough for the new GFX cards and I'm also worried about the heat build up inside it.

Sound Card: I'll be going for the Forte PCI-E(headphone user).

GFX Card: Best bang for buck out of the top cards (I use a 24" Dell 2405 monitor). - Not looking to go SLI for the forseeable future

Power Supply: to suit the above.

Budget: Not sure yet, I know that doesn't really help but I'll know in a months time. I'm looking to spend enough to get the job done so that it can handle games for a good time to come, however I don't want to waste money for unessentials.

Any advice welcome!

if your budget allows go for i7, mobo/ram choice will depend on processor, idea of budget is a month away so will be best to wait and see what deals are around at the time.

graphics card wise i'd look at a 1gb 4870 or 260 OCX MAXCORE as a minimum for the 24" screen.

case should be fine, from what i can see of it.

psu wise the Coolermaster Real Power 620w Modular should do the job.

As said above, wait and see what's on offer when you're going to order, there are normally some very good deals on cpu's, mobo's and graphics cards. The HD4870's seem to keep dropping in price aswell, so if they continue to go on this week only, you'll get a very good deal
