Hi just wondering what the next cards from ati and nvidia will be ?

Also what specs/performance they will be compared to my current card ?

I currently have a hd4870 and will be looking to upgrade soon so wanna know if its worth waiting.

Sorry for not scouring the net for this info but I'm on my mums blackberry as my router has gone bang, long story !

Thanks guys

plenty of threads asking the same thing..

radeons are do this next month and Nvida next year early part.

I can't rember the sepcs for ethoir i know the next Nvida is big

No one really knows exactly how fast the new cards will perform...

On paper the specs of the 5870 are approx twice the performance of the 4870 - in practise I'd say its only about 30% faster for DX9 type stuff but around 2-2.5x faster for DX10+.

GT300 is even more of a wildcard - as far as GPGPU type tasks its potentially anything upto 20x faster than the 4870 (double precision) - as for rendering DX9 and earlier looks like running almost twice as fast, but DX10+ at this point is hard to determine.

Ati will rush their new cards in order to beat nvidia. they are desperate as their marketshare is still small even after all these price drops. however the 58xx will be nothing but a 48xx reharsh with dx 11 plastered on them. On the other hand nvidia is focusing on innovation and will dominate the scene once more.

the new radeon is siad to be a lot faster than current gen radeons....

and as for Nvida very expesnive I bet but lighting fast, wait and see lol
AMD already knows how to do 40nm die anyway probley why its already made

Would that be the same way a GTX2XX is a rehash of 8800 technology? All they have done is double up on everything and they're still finding keeping to the original DX10 spec too hard.

I think you need to get over the fact that your mate Duran can't get ATi cards to work properly.

Each Anti-ATi trolling post you make is more irrational than the last by quite an amount.

Get over it and start enjoying playing games again.

you stating the HD48XX was not a good card o.O gave Nvida a flee in the ear and a scare

both cards (HD58XX) and GT300 seem to be crazy on clock speed, the GT300 or whatever they are calling it will have GDDR5as would the radeon.

I ll edit my post later with the link or even better quote than linky

Oh god why must you ALWAYS post this crap.

To the OP, no one knows the real release date, ATI are "supposedly" bringing out new cards in October/September time, Nvidia supposedly later than that i.e Q1 2010.

No one knows the performance apart from ATI saying theirs will be "pleasantly" fast, Nvidia have yet to say anything.
