Next Day Gaming Rig...

no i dont need it next day, i was going to get that one but im worried about the i3 will it hold it back?
The i5 in the system you linked can be overclocked, but the i3 in the other system can't - i3 will be slower.

In any case, the system you've linked isn't a good deal now that Ryzen and Coffee-Lake is out.

Thats what i thought.. im basically just after a good gaming PC for around 1000. But that deal does seem a very good one.

So here I have taken that PC in the link, added the 16GB RAM, 250GB SSD option and also clicked on the GTX1070 option.

It is now £1058.

This is now way faster than,

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Which only has a GTX1060.

This is only 200Mhz faster on the cores base clock speed (aint bothered to look at turbos etc), no amount of overclocking the cores is going to make up for the difference between a GTX1060 and a GTX1070

End of.

Edit...oh I forgot to click the WiFi option too, but its still cheaper with that ticked.

Edit#2 the i3 doesnt have Turbo at all, but its still going to be faster due to the GTX1070.

Of course the system is going to be faster if you change the GPU to a faster one :p

Shame the i5-8400 option is OOS, as that would last you longer due to the extra cores and threads.

Of course it's going to be faster if you change the GPU to a much faster one :p

Yes, which is why I suggest that PC, the op is worried the i3 is going to hold it back, it wont.

Rule#1, pick a strong GFX card first then CPU 2nd, not CPU 1st and GFX card 2nd if you are doing a gaming PC to a price.

You dont know.
Some of the things you say are quite funny tbh :)

In my comment I say that i3 CPU is slower than the i5, as it can't be overclocked. I've only mentioned CPUs.

I don't mention the system at all, I even say don't buy the older system.

Anyway, this is going nowhere as you have trouble reading it seems.

Im here trying to assist the OP and point out some simple facts.

Both are quad core (yes one has turbo and has a 200Mhz higher base clock) but the speed difference between a 1060 and 1070 is so big the CPU difference wont count for jack.

Why dont you jog on.

Anyway, this is going nowhere as you have trouble reading it seems.

Nice, see ya;)

get that £699 even at whatever spec it comes with, it will still do some good levels of gaming, then you got enough money spare for a nice monitor to compliment it and then when you feel the system isnt good enough you can upgrade it.

just an example

or for a non g-sync, but stil be a nice monitor and saving you money then maybe this.

personally would go i5 8400- bit of a price bump along with 120gb ssd just for OS and software - 16GB
Single channel makes frame rates spike quite badly - recommend anyone try it themselves quickly - plus trying to buy a single Vulcan 2400hz is like £100 by its self!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this long in pascal life would just go with gtx 1060 - the hex core i5 8400 will stay with you a long time and more then likely you'll be switching out GPUs .
or ask OC to change to 2x 4GB sticks to save some cash!!!

in fairness my lenovo and even that haswell gaming tower i had originally came with single ram stick and i never noticed any issues, i was gaming with the tower for a good 3-4 months if not slightly more before i upgraded to 16gb problem free, i upgraded because it was for christmas present and the case of why not, it does really depend how your system is configured or what your doing i guess, i purchased the 2nd 4gb stick for my thinkcentre for better multitasking and was cheaper than a single 8gb stick, but given the current prices it seems dual kits are favored, so might aswell just go with it.
