Hi All,

anyone running next-gen AV?

I've been looking at Microsoft ATP but it seems very expensive for an envionment with more users than devices. Let's say a network made up of 4,000 machines (1,500 windows clients and 2,500 dumb terminals), plus 100 servers.

The userbase is 10,000 users all hot desking and what not.

Microsoft are quoting a per user base model and have come in at £35k

So £35k to cover 1,500 machines and 100 servers.

:edit: so my Microsoft reseller may not have got the right SKU, waiting for a revised quote

We use the E3 ATP across the board having replaced Sophos with it last year.

Its the bee's knees and well worth the money for the ability's and insights it gives you imo.

I'd been interested to know how much you get quoted? Ours get covered by our MPN benefits so im fortunate to not need worry about that until we out grow it.

Would you mind helping me understand how licensing works please? We want it on 1,500 pcs, and 100 servers. They seem to suggest we need to licence all staff, so if we do, I assume we can just use it on the servers too.

Its both afaik.
The servers need to be licensed by Azure Security Center and then user/devices are by an e5 license of sorts (win10 or 365).

ASC is about 15 a month per server so not cheap!

I could be off the mark though :o its a proper minefield looking into it more, and im not sure MS are confident either as they dont limit or differentiate installs, they seem to be relying on faith at the moment.
