This is not intended as a PS3 bashing thread, just want honest opinions on which console you like best for looks.

I hadn't really looked closely at either the PS3 or the Wii until last week, I've not really got any intention of purchasing either regardless of how good they are or how much better than my trusty 360 they may be.

One thing that did strike me is the poor aesthetics of the PS3, it's ugly and looks like it's a fair size. The top being slopped means you can't place anything onto it (sort of thing that annoys me - although I'm always careful to keep my 360s ventilation holes free of obstruction). I like the shiny-ness of it though but on the whole it's rather ugly - my opinion of course.

I had a slim line PS2 and I am a little disappointed in the PS3s design, perhaps if I get my hands on one my mind will change but at the moment it just doesn't seem that inspiring compared to the Wii.

The Wii on the other hand looks downright odd, but in a good way. I must admit I really like it and I've been impressed by Nintendo's use of innovation and imagination in both the console design and the peripherals and software. I do feel the need to "have a shot" of one as soon as possible, mostly to see what the new controllers are like if i'm honest as they look kinda funky :)

I'm very "Bleh" about the Xbox 360s design, I have mine horizontal and place my controllers/remote on top of it when it's not in use. Unusually I like the colour as it's very neutral and oddly matches my livingroom! but it's not the most mind bending design ever but at least it feels rock solid and it does look rather lovely when you switch it on in a dark room and power light cycles (yes I'm easily amused).

So for me the winners so far, and bare in mind I have only physically seen/used a 360 is:

Wii > 360 > PS3

I doubt that'll change, but then again I've got a long time to wait before I get to see a PS3 close up. None of my friends are even considering getting one so I won't get to see an import :( Guess I'll just have to wait on Toy'r us next year!

Xbox 360 > Wii > PS3.

I always liked the concave look to the Xbox360, it's HDD addition and stylish light for controller numbers on the front. The fact it's vertical and horizontal is a bonus.

I don't have to describe why the Wii looks better than the PS3.

I do like the Wii most, the 360 is quite boring, but it's not actually bad to look at if you get what I mean. The PS3 does look far too shiney, and if that thing gets scratched, it's going to look quite bad quickly. Ergonmically, it probably wont be that bad I guess, as you'll be using cordless controllers so don't have to worry with that much other than ejecting and charging controllers.

On the basis of looks alone Wii>xbox360>ps3. Having said that, it aint a beauty contest like sony said.

I really like the curved 360, looks very good on the shelf above my sky+ box. (9/10)
I like the wii but not sure it would really fit below my tv. (7/10)
I have to say the PS3 has grown on me a little, but then, that's not hard as I thought it was a joke when I first saw it. The black gloss finish is nice but I would like to see one after a couple of years finger prints, dust and scratches. (4/10)

360 > Wii > PS3

360>Wii>PS3 (warehouse)

I personally quite like the look of the 360 (I have mine vertically) - I think it looks understated which I like.

The Wii I don't know, looks ok but maybe a bit too much like one of those external DVD drives

The PS3 - oh dear, it looks like the warehouse I used to work in (from certain angles) and the curved top will annoy people who like to have their console in a tower with DVD players, sky boxes etc. Also the slot type drive could cause some issues if it were to eat your disc.

TBH i dont think any of them are 'great'. But each have there own strong points
If i was to make a great looking console it would be an xbox360 made out of the PS3 material, that is something which would look fantastic sat under my TV. And i think would be the best looking thing we seen in a while. I would maybe add slot loading on the 360 too, not sure tho
The 360 looks kinda cheap, and its sat next to a sky+ box, think its the plasticy white they used, not even glossy like an iPod
The PS3 is just an Odd shape, but the shiney black that Sony can do looks fantastic.
The Wii, well when i see the black ones i will make my mind up i think, i liked the black images when it was the revolution, but wouldnt look too bad stanidng upright against a 360 with PS3 ontop of it stack i think they will all fit together nicely like that.

Yeah, I think the 360 looks real nice. Elegant is the word I would use. Not sure about the other two, as it depends until I see it, but the Wii looks good if a tad 'dull'. The PS3 looks rubbish, but I don't like the styling of the PS2 or PSTwo.

I really like the look of the 360, defiantly the best looking/designed console I have seen as it actually looks like something that belongs in an adults lounge room rather and a kids toy while still managing to look distinctive and is very practical in its design (reasonable size, vertical or horizontal, front loading drive rather than a pop-top thingy) meaning it can easily be placed in almost any setup.

I’ll hold my final opinion on the ps3 and wii until they are released but I’m not particularly impressed by either, as the wii looks too much like a toy, particularly with the strip that goes on/near your TV and the ps3 looks oversized and impractical with the curved top.

i've had my 360 sitting on my desk now for almost a year and looking at wii and ps3 pictures the 360 looks bland
its got cheap looking plastic,just does not look like next gen console
changing the front panel was a good idea but why leave it at that,also should have been able to change the sides.
1=wii
2=ps3
3=360

I think the size of the Wii helps it along with the aesthetics. The 360 is ok. My 360 fitted nicely under my TV with the NTL box etc and I would imagine the Wii and PS3 would do the same. The only system out on open display is my PC, So for me, assuming I buy the PS3 and Wii:

Wii>360>George Foreman Grill>Lynksis Router>PS3>My hulking metal PC tower>Xbox

Should sony do an addon for making cheese toasties then I may feel the desire to bump it up the list.

the Wii looks extremely smart and compact and would sit next to my TV unit handsomely, so I am saying wii -> 360 -> ps3

Wii
360
PS3

Wii because it's small and sleek (this is the 21st centuary so small is good)
360 because the curves look so natural
PS3 because there's only one other place and that's last.

The wii looks lush :) Then the 360 and and PS3.

I think the humble super famicom still looks the best - but that's almost certainly nostalgia speaking.

My least favourite would have to be the PS3, it looks overly large and reminds me very much of Xscape in Milton Keynes rather than something electical ;)

The 360 I think looks better (most stylish), it's got more style to it than the PS3 I think (and doesn't look quite as odd).

However the one I think I like the most is the Wii, if it's the size they say it is, I can probably put it in with DVD's (and it's games) by the TV without it looking out of place - i'm wondering what the chances are of someone making some sort of cover for the front of it to make it look even more like a trio of games/dvd's ;)
