Eidos Montreal announces new Deus Ex for PS4, Xbox One and PC

A new Deus Ex title is currently in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Eidos Montreal has announced.

The title will form part a series of video games, books, graphic novels and other experiences connected together through a world known as Deus Ex: Universe, a new saga that will expand the franchise "on a regular basis" and create "a more immersive and richer experience than ever before".

"The concept behind Deus Ex: Universe is to create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games," said Eidos Montreal studio head David Anfossi.

"It's a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before. Deus Ex: Universe will include PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc... You might have seen the name pop up recently in the press – well this is what it’s all about.

"I'm pleased to confirm that we are already into production of the starting point for Deus Ex: Universe with a new game for PC and next-generation consoles. We're very excited about it at the studio and I wanted to let you know that most of the team behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution is already working hard on this new game. It took us four years to learn how to create a unique Deus Ex experience with Human Revolution and it was important for me to keep this knowledge within the franchise."

The next-gen title will be based around the idea of "trans-humanism segregation," Anfossi says, with the first piece of concept art, pictured above, showing the game's "dark and dystopian" vision.

"For now, I hope you are excited about the future of this game that we love so much. Deus Ex is coming to next-gen, it's early so don't expect to hear much more from us just yet, but I wanted you to know."

A release date and title for the game has yet to be confirmed.

Tastes and all that, but I thought Human Revolution was very good, maybe a notch below exceptional, definitely good enough to have high hopes for the next game. I look forward to it.

Yeah I quite liked it also :) Looking forward to what they do with the next gen version.

I really enjoyed DE:HR (bar the forced boss battles which were really hard with my stealth based character), so I'm very much looking forward to a next gen sequel.

Only problem I had with the last deus ex was that it wasn't big enough.

It was all over in five minutes even with a bit of exploring thrown in.

HR was pretty good, though I didn't much care for the metal gearesque boss fights (didn't fit the game imo). I did love the art direction it's one of the few games I bought the artbook for. Also I do like the sound of a more expansive sequel I'm not sure if they plan to go open world or not but bigger for DE is definitely better.

Didn't fit? How do you mean? Bosses and what they could do was accurate to the Deus Ex universe. Remember, MGS and DE are both cyberpunk (DE moreso than MGS) so it's expected that they'd have similar thingies.

Agreed...

Although I like the fact the new edition which comes out this month has been rijigged to have more options when taking on the boss fights so you can still use your stealth etc. The way it should have been in the first place

Enjoyed it thoroughly however and will look forward to the next title but will no doubt be a loooooooooooong way away!

I really liked Deus Ex HR apart from the Namir battle because I'd made all the wrong decisions and upgrades it turned out. I was close to giving up. iirc the 3 boss fights were made by a separate team which explains why they don't really suit the game.
