Next generation console code named "'Durango"

MS may as well confirm that the new xbox is in full dev as there have been so many devs posting job listings for next gen game in dev plus Unreal engine 4 gets unveiled extrememly soon to which an Epic member has stated is running on next gen hardware (which usually means a new console ie like Gears of War with Unreal engine 3)

Its happening and 2013 will be the release :)

I can't wait :)

It will change about 40 times before we get a confirmed, and we already know the new xbox replacement has been in development for at least a year now.

I still remember when the code name for the Gamecube was Project Dolphin.

You can still see all the nintendo codenames hidden in the product codes on games if you look.

Gamecube game product codes are all prefixed "DOL".

N64 was going to be the Nintendo Ultra 64, and product codes start "NUS"

The Wii was codenamed Revolution and all the game product codes start "RVL".

Same with the DS (Nitro), "NTR". :)

Pretty interesting, can't say I ever noticed that.

Interesting news.

I have been interested in the jobs advertised Bethesda and other companies for talented people to work on the next generation.

Better get saving those pennies. :)

I'm more concerned about this rumour of a touch screen being on the controller. I don't want nor need it

I think this could wrok really well. Its not only a touchscreen its also rumoured to be a game screen that couild potentially chow tactical info, map info etc. Imagine playing say Rainbow 6 Vegas 4 or something and planning your breach using the tactical screen and touch screen interface to line up your team on breach postions

Or Your playing Forza 5 and you can take a car on the test track and in real time using the touch screen and info panel change suspension settings, tyres types, body aeordynamics etc to better inprove the car to take into races

Or you feel you need to go to the toilet and you take the game with you on the controller and transfer the game streaming from the console to the screen on the pad (rumoured)

You see it really is a great idea dn not a bad idea at all whenh you think about it like that. Its not as if Epic will make the next Gears of War game (3 wasnt the last in the series just witn Fenix) with a touch screen for reving a chainsaw etc. Its about innovation and my ideas would be fantastic

The thing is....all that could be done with a normal controller just fine.

No it cant. Wheres the extra tactical screen on your existing controller? Did you read anything I said? To do those things Ive mentioned owuld involves pausing the game and bringing up a seperate menu or pressing Y for thne gadget to bring up and once again have to traul through options where as a screen would be quicker, more intuitive etc

Not really. The thing is all those things you'd have to stop playing the game anyway (you can't drive round a track and setup the car, you can't navigate a map and plan an entry in a Rainbow Six game) so effectively it's no different than just being able to bring up a tactical map on screen with a button. Plus it doesn't have the negatives of having a dinner plate sized controller in your hand)

If the control is anything less than how good the current one is, then im going to sue!

but really, the current 360 control is by far the best gamepad ever released with a console.

it's got perfect spacing from all the buttons, it's really ergonomic at least for my ape like hands.
