Im pretty new to PC gaming... but do Nvidia/AMD release new cards every year? i have a 970 now but is there going to be another set of cards towards the end of the year?
 
New Radeons next month (fingers crossed). Expect GTX 980 Ti pretty soon too. Brand new architectures from both GPU manufacturers are expected in 2016.
 
You can never be up to date with pc components unfortunately. Always something coming out
 
Basically you'll have the latest gen until some point until 2016. The new cards coming out this year will be 'ultra size' versions of the present cards and will be expensive as heck.
