next logical gfx upgrade?

i have as follows...

Opty 146 @ 2.8 (replaced by 3800+)
2gb ram
X1800XT

i am considering a low cost upgrade to the graphics card possibly as i'm trying to get a decent game upgrade as cheap as poss hence the 3800+ change.

what would be a decent boost in games over my current card? would a 2600XT be worth it?

if its not worth it i wont bother and i havent followed technology for a while...

2600xt is slower than what you have right now. best to stick to what you got, next cheapest option to your current card than can really be called an upgrade would be a 320mb 8800gts.

im planning to keep my X1800XT till the next round of cards comes, at least.

its not oc at the moment, and plays almost everything on very high details...

I'm in a similar situation. I've got the urge to upgrade my X1800XT but there aren't the games to justify it ATM. Oblivion plays fine at 1680x1050 and even Bioshock is playable at that res. The only game which makes it struggle is Colin McRae: DiRT, and I think that's just poorly coded.

Probably gonna wait until Crysis and UT3, at which point the urge to get an 8800GTS will be too strong. Maybe there'll be a reasonably-priced next-gen card out by then, like a 9800GT or something.
