new to overclocking (total n00b).... just go my 170. clocked it to 2.42 (242x10) @ 1.39v on air. HT Multi is at 4x. not touched my RAM its still set on auto.

a few questions

what are the max volts recomended for the Opti 170?

what do i need change on my RAM when clocking and how.

am i missing anything else

No such thing. You need to be thinking "whats the max load temp I will accept?"

With a 170 I would have 55c as my ceiling so the max voltage would be the one that gives a load temp of 55c.

Your ram should be ok at least to 260mhz, if you get errors use a divider to lower the speed.

Yes, on air it's almost certainly going to be temps that will set the limit rather than voltage. 1.5V volts is likely to make your chip hit 60+ at least, though the silicon can easily handle more.

My personal preference at the moment is SnM, though Prime95 is also good. These two essentially will produce the worst case full load temps you can get (SnM by a good few degrees over Prime95 in my experience). If your CPU can handle these two, then it should be able handle pretty much everything you throw at it.
