Hi,

My specs are as follows
Windows 7 - 64bit op system
Intel(R) i5-4440 3.10ghz
900 psu
8.00 gb ram
gtx 970 graphics card

Just wondering what you guys suggest for a next upgrade? it would be done next year but i just want to get some suggestions so i can research the prices and products.

If possible, i would like to fit the parts my self but bear in mind i am an amature at this.... although i did fit the gtx card haha.

Just in regards to the update purpose, Im looking simply to keep the game graphics as high as possible and budget would be no more than £250 really....

Thanks in advance

Best time to buy a new SSD would be around / after christmas time. When Samsung release new models of VNAND SSDs. They will be higher capacity and the price will come down. That's about 3 months away (give or take). The chips are already in production.

After an SSD you don't really have enough mula left over for a new GPU. Unless you can also sell your existing 970 card 2nd hand and fetch a decent price for it. Dunno if that's worth it. So give the rest back the the ms. I suppose. That way she won't be so wary / on alert the next time you want to upgrade! Which should be for a 16nm GPU some time after 2H2016.

So:

SSD

i5-4690K/i7-4790K

Nice CPU cooler

8GB more of RAM

I'd leave the CPU/cooler upgrade for last, because your i5-4440 shouldn't be struggling, and the longer you postpone upgrading the cheaper any second-hand i5-K/i7-K will be. If you buy a Devil's Canyon chip (as opposed to original Haswell), make sure to first update (flash) the BIOS on your Z87 motherboard.

I'd add an SSD (250GB minimum) and more DDR3 RAM (if prices remain low, otherwise don't bother).

Assuming you are using a 1080p monitor, there is no need to upgrade the GTX 970 in the near future.
