I have just done some work on our netwrok, putting a switch at the end of each row of desks and connecting the PC's to this switch then connecting the switch via gigabit to the main switches down stairs.

All has gone well and the machines seem to work, except for a couple which are constantly connecting and disconnecting from the network.

It is happening to 2 machines and one of them is not on the new switch setup.

They just keep saying "Local Area Connection Connected" then "A network cable is unplugged" over and over and over.

Any ideas?

To clarify... the little network connection in the bottom right systray keeps looking as those its connected and then getting a red X repeatedly?

Where the cables are connected to the LAN port on the PC, does the light stay on (if there is one)?

Are you using the same cables as before? To be honest at this moment in time it sounds like a dodgy connector :\ rather than a software issue. What model switches?
