Can anyone help. I have an AMD 4000+ which runs at 2.6 on air. I am looking to take the next step and am wondering if an Opteron 148 (running at 2.8/3.0) will be worth it. I am only looking to spend say £200 on a new CPU. Should I wait and save some more dosh? Would one of the oter Opterons be worth looking at?

Apart from going dual I dont really see much point. Whats the rest of your spec?

Wouldnt bother tbh mate.
I'd just hang on to it until more games utilise dual core technology.

TBH this cpu (if you get a good stepping) is fantastic.As I type this on my laptop I am priming on my main rig at 2.7ghz on stock vcore of 1.3v on air!
