I'm 28 and earn 28k a year, I can also earn bonuses and overtime on top of that. No pension through them yet either.

I work as a claims manager but becoming bored of the role / impossible targets and want a change. Does anyone have any suggestions what type of job I could move to that pays similar? I'm open to anything else - was thinking of oil rigs but not sure where I'd start.

In terms of education I have a Btec
National diploma in IT but haven't done anything with that for 10 years now.

I would be willing to go back into education but due to bills I can't just quit work so would have to be a part time course.

Is there no chance of progression in your current role?

None at all, it's a smallish claims management company and my boss has been in his role for sometime and can't see him moving on.

I've been with the company for 7 years and worked my way up from a handler to were I am now but things have changed a lot recently - I'd love a new challenge, hence me asking for ideas.

Firstly, what are you interested in? I've always believed you will have more success following a career you have an interest in.

And if you cant quit work for education, you sound tailor made for the open university.

Id love to do something on the oil rigs but anything else where I'd be earning 25k+ would be fine.

I've just had a new born baby so thinking about it, not sure I could come home from work (7.30-5.30) and then look at uni stuff. I don't know much about the open uni though!
