Have a look at the pcs and electronics before the swifties get em .
I was helping my pal get rid of stuff and while i was putting the duff old monitors that had conked in i noticed a pc/monitor graveyard .
One of the blokes that worked there was straight off with a nice looking case that had `athlon` on it,the bugger.
Well i grabbed a couple that were there(and didn`t look too great but that doesn`t matter so much as whats under the hood lol),and so far

Got a mint sblive 5.1 digital sound card
Pioneer 108 dvdrw
Toshiba dvd rom
Creative 32xcdrw
And one of the pcs actually works with a piii 500 in it

lol.

i play with blender a fair bit and was thinking of doing the same to try and build a home brew render farm, considering my old athlon 64 3200 system used to take an hour to render 40 frames (until it just died)it might be worth a try?

The spares are handy especially for old systems i get asked to fix,thankfully not everyones after a conroe

I had no idea what blender was till you mentioned it mate,just a pity you can`t chain a bunch of ol pentiums together lol.You should grab a dual 3800 right now before they`re gone.
I was looking up specs on one of the pcs i got to cannibise,its release price was $2700 :eek:

.I wince now that i paid 1300 for a pii400 system all those years ago.

I already have two complete PIII-600 systems spare that are from an old office, I'd hate to think what my girlfriend would do if I walked in with another one

I do need a cheap laptop though, keep your eyes open for me next time you visit the tip

If you found a lappy in the dump (that hasn't been taken) you deserve a prize...or the person who put it their does. Main thing with desktops is that people can't be arsed with em, laptops are another story..
