Hi,
Could you please advise me regarding the next possible upgrade? I am currently running Win 7 on below specs:
Core 2 Quad Q9505 @3.83
4GB DDR3
Samsung SSD Drive
Asus P5Q Pro motherboard
Radeon 5850 1GB
PSU – Corsair 750 Watts
Case: Silverstone fortress

I am trying to get some possible upgrade steps together for gaming on my 24inch screen 1080p. I don’t need 100+ fps but just need to run games smoothly. I must say it kind of works ok now but with some exemptions: Witcher 2 runs on high in 1080p but has problems on Ultra settings, same for Skyrim but that one tends to drop the frame rate at times.
The questions are:
Can I still upgrade the graphics card and get some real gaming performance improvement?
If so, what card do I need to buy to play in 1080p? (Could afford up to R9 280X but don’t want to spend the money if I don’t need to)
Drop that graphic card upgrade and start from Overclocked motherboard bundle and if that’s the case what’s the reasonable bundle I don’t really need to overspend on?

Thanks a lot in advance for all possible helps and opinions

What kind of budget you looking at? A GPU upgrade could work but that CPU and motherboard would also like an upgrade :)

R9 280X or GTX770 fall within your budget.

Check they fit in your case and thats about it really.

Yeah £250 id say 280 or 770. Given the fx6300 bundle your considering you don't want to spend to much on a GPU. I think maybe a 280 with an fx6300 bundle is probably a good fit. Maybe look at a 8320 option if you can. Or if budget goes out the window a nice intel option :)

Thanks chaps. Will look to start from r9 280x. I thought it would be most reasonable option as it would last for longest as well. Thanks again
