Next upgrade...?

Looking to throw £300ish at my pc as a last upgrade this year, next year i intend to go quad core so want to make sure the upgrade i put in now will still be usuable then realy?

All this pc does is game and browse the net...

Playing COD4 and crysis is doable but with the gfx turned down....

Suggestions for my xmas prezzie to my self for gaming...?

im guessing the new cpus wont go in this board so its gonna be a gfx card?

e2180, 8800GTS (the new ones when they come out) or 8800GT and maybe a bios flash

Is it worth doing a cpu when im planning on going quad core next year? ( wont my mobo be bin fodder for the new cpu's relased next year?

Also is it not worth going for the highest end 8800?

a 2180 will be a major improvement and will most likely last until the possible demand for the quads die down and will serve as a good back up cpu anyway (they oc to about 3ghz on p35 mb.) an 8800GT is just a bit slower then a 8800GTX
