As I've posted in a few places - I'm converting my ageing desktop into a HTPC.

Desk is being thrown out as we need the space upstairs with baby numero 2 on the way! :)

I may consider a small set of upgrades as part of it, if they can be justified. I'm pretty happy with its performance, considering its a 3-year old budget spec machine. It chomps through Tomb Raider, BioShock, Crysis 1/2 and BF4, maxed out and at playable framerates (40+).

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz Socket AM3+ 14MB Cache (Not overclocked, there's headroom to do it, but I'm time constrained)
--> Arctic Silencer Pro 64 cooler
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 Socket AM3+
WD 1TB Caviar Green 3.5" SATA-III 6Gb/s Hard Drive - 64MB Cache
Kingston 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM (Kit of 2) HyperX Blu Red
MSI AMD Radeon r7850 OC 1GB
(I forget the PSU... its actually quite an old Hiper one, I think... runs fine. )

I'm only 1080p gaming. I'm just after future-proofing it for a few more years - £200 ABSOLUTE MAX.

SSDs I'm not so fussed about - loading times aren't a huge deal to me, provided its playable at decent framerates (blasphemy, I know).

Gogogog! :) Thanks!

A newer GPU with at least 2gb VRAM ought to do the trick, assuming your PSU is up to the task. Either a GTX960, GTX770 or R9 380 would suffice without breaking the bank. What's the PSU make/model?
