*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

According to wikipedia it only came out in 2011. So technically it's had the same support as my GS2.

---

It's actually had more support, with the last official rom being 4.3. Where as the GS2 only goes upto 4.1.2.

Apparently the Galaxy Nexus support was only dropped due to the SoC vendor, Texas Instruments closing up shop.

It will be interesting to see how long the Nexus 4 lasts as it's SoC vendor, Qualcomm isn't going anywhere anytime soon :D

Let's see if Google come up with any other excuses.

No the main reason was it fell out of the 18month agreement. So when if the nexus 6 comes I would expect the nexus 4 to be dropped. At the end of the day newer hardware makes your software look better. It makes no good bussiness to keep updating older products.

One of the main selling points of Kit Kat was reduced memory usage though, releasing it for the Galaxy Nexus would have been a good way to show that off, which is why I was surprised it wasn't released for that device.

Possibly yes... But android alliance thingy was all about providing timey updates to phones for 18 months. My Mrs has my galaxy nexus and it looks dated now, its not always a good idea to upgrade old tech..

You seen the latest iOS on a iphone4.... Runs like a dog

Congratulations. Now the hard work begins :D My daughter is 9 months and gives me plenty to do. 99% of the pictures and video's on my phone are of her.
Thanks god for dropbox and the Meenova card reader :)

Enjoy it matey :)

So its not going to be a Sprint exclusive or something then? Cool.

I'd like a blue one, so I hope its not just red.

I don't know if it's going to be a Sprint exclusive but if it's made available on the Play Store for all to buy then it's all good.

Personally I'm not fond of the Red version at all.

Slight design tweek with the colour wrapping going around the sides which I wish they did with the white version.

Personally I'm waiting for a yellow or blue version to tempt me away from my white N5.

So your saying the Nexus 5, only has 18months of software support?

18 months was a minimum desired time frame for updates for OEMs. The Nexus line could go for longer, just have to wait and see.

the power button on my nexus 5 has stopped working :/

this a common problem ? searches just lead me to the 'loose' power button. it also has that problem...

what are my rights with CPW ? im probably just within my 30 days , instant replacement instore ?

can always just send to google
