Scratched my screen today, about 1cm long ... not sure how I managed that, had nothing in my work pants pocket ... gutted
I am kind of tempted to buy the Nillkin tempered glass screen protector from ebay, supposedly quite good.........
Don't really want to bother with a case as I love how this phone feels "naked", if I was to get one, it would probably be the diztronic case.
I've got a Sandisk 128GB microSDXC card to allow me to have my entire music collection playing through my N5 rather than carry an iPod around. I have also bought a Meenova adapter to allow me to connect my 128GB microSDXC to my N5.
I didn't realise that the card would be exFAT and therefore unreadable by my N5. I can't re-format to anything other than exFAT or NTFS. It seems I have to root my N5 to be able to install something like StickMount to allow my N5 to read the card.
If I do root my N5, would I need to choose a ROM? Or can I just root and that's it?
I've found the following links to unlock my bootloader and then root my N5. Are they reliable directions? Is there anything else I need to do to root my N5 like choose a ROM?

Just double-checked and I only have exFAT and NTFS options to choose from. You should be able to format the card to fat32.
Might do that then. Are there any guides you'd recommend or are those links I posted OK?And yes you keep the stock rom. Just rooted.
Yeah, that's fine. I can back up files/photos and then re-install apps through my Google account when I'm rooted.Just be aware that unlocking the bootloader wipes the device. Other than that you can just unlock the BL, root the device and then keep anything/everything else stock if you want to.
Cool. What would be better? Formatting the card to FAT32 and seeing if the phone recognises that and can play the music in some MP3 player or rooting? You may need a 3rd party software to format to fat32. I have a Verbatim one that I can upload to dropbox tomorrow if you want.
Just so you know - rooting the Nexus 5 will wipe the data from your phone.
It is in my PC. Windows offers me either exFAT or NTFS.can you not stick it in a pc and format?
That's the link I was looking for! Thanks.I used this program to do my nexus 5 and 7, worked great on both

Can I root without unlocking the bootloader or is that necessary?also rooting shouldnt delete any data on the phone, unlocking the bootloader may do if it factory resets as part of the process
This is exactly what I did for mine and the misses Nexus 5. The tempered glass feels just like the normal glass and not crappy plastic, it applies really easily and has no bubbles, you literally clean it and drop it ontop and your done.
