Well I've just been hit in the face with a reminder of why apple can charge that little extra

Power button broke about a month after owning the phone. Carphone warehouse told me all nexus repairs now had to go to LG as they where having a lot in.

LG sent my a prepaid envelope to send to sbe Ltd. All good so far and done in an easy apple way .

Sbe Ltd send me a letter requesting £14 to get my phone back still broken as apparently It's physical damage. Well Yea it is but by bad design . I've never broken a power button on another phone . It was never dropped or even actually used that much.

LG are trying to sort it now but I've already wasted more time than it would have took to go to the apple store in the next town and do a quick switch :p

The text just looked a tad funny to me in your photo, but it could be whatever you took the photo with causing that! It's very cheap for a spigen though - and yes there should be a little piece of paper with a number to verify authenticity.

Yes he text does look à bit funny on the naked eye as well. Like its been pressed in, there was no certificate in the box, I've done a bit of researching and found others which no certificates but the box has hologram and they have turned out to be fakes.

I've opened a case with PayPal, see what happens.

I paid £240 for my N5 from the CPW and it had been great until I needed to return it to them. The runaround that I got between them, LG and the repair company SBE (?) was quite horrendous.
Whilst the initial price was great the aggravation in dealing with that group of companies would mean that I will avoid them in the future. The savings on the purchase price was not worth the pain.

My father in law got his N4 swapped out with no issues, but he bought direct from the Play store.

I cannot fault the LG call centre staff but their choice of repairer is a total joke. Had issues with these years back when I had one of the chocolate usb port xperia x10's

I have now been told that repair is refused because the phone had been opened

It hadn't...

Not sure where to go with this now . LG are asking them for evidence but can't promise it being quick

So I'm a 300 quid phone down here that to get back they want me to phone a premium line and make a payment of £14.40

I'm after some advice.

I'm fed up of my iPhone 4s now, it keeps crashing and I'm due a new phone anyway. I've never used android before and I'm thinking it would make a nice change.

I'm tying to decide between the nexus 5/galaxy s5/xperia z2!

The nexus 5 comes in about £200 cheaper than the other two phones.

Is it worth paying then extra to get an S5/xperia z2? From what I can see all I'll get is a much better camera and the 'Samsung' or 'Sony' name?!?

How is the camera on the nexus 5? Better than the iPhone 4s hopefully?

Even though it's an old phone is it still worth buying, especially as it'll be my first android?

In terms of value for money nothing will beat the £95 Moto G or the £249 nexus 5 (albeit it's the 16GB version).

After that your paying hundreds of pounds for very small improvements across the board.

Basically if you think slightly better phone for an extra £200-£300 is worth it then buy the better phone. I doubt anyone would be unhappy though with a Nexus 5.

Can't comment on the Xperia. Avoid the S5.
Your gonna get an bias view though asking which phone to get in a Nexus 5 thread. Naturally I am going to say go for the Nexus.

As a long time iPhone/iOS user myself (iPod Touch, 3G, 4, iPad, 4s) I got bored too. I tried the HTC Desire and the Galaxy S4. Everytime I hated Android. After the S4 I tried a Lumia 925. Great phone, great OS, no apps. I then got a Nexus 7 tablet and loved stock Android. So much faster than what I got on the S4. I sucked it up and sold the 925 and got a Nexus 5. Love it to bits. It's a great phone for the money. An equivalent iPhone is twice the price. I doubt I will be going back to an iPhone any time soon. I am watching closely though what Google do with the Nexus line after the rumours state it's being ditched.

*Edit*

Forgot to mention I have since also purchased a secondhand white Nexus 4 to use as my work phone.

I am interested in using android OS. Not an android OS with loads of manufactured incorporated apps! That's one of the appealing things of the n5!

How's the camera?

Thanks guys! Friend of mine just reminded me what I said to him the other day:

"I just want a phone that texts/calls/takes the odd picture lasts more than a few hours without charge and ******* works"

Ha!

You won't be disappointed. Just perhaps order it from either Amazon or Google Play instead of carphone warehouse. The returns at cpw are apparently a nightmare. Amazon is £25 more expensive, but £25 to save a headache is well worth it!
