Hi, just got nexus of my mate but the battery is completely dead so I'm looking for new one to put in. Can you guys give me a hand as to where to buy it for delivery in London. My Nexus is 7" 2012 version 16gb, I will have a lot more questions as it its my first tablet:D but that on later date.

My advice would be throw it in the bin and buy another Nexus second hand with a working battery.

Or even better, just throw it away and get something else. They really are crap anyway.

Sorry for not being constructive but I'm still angry at Google/Asus for using such poor componentry that meant it was only any good for a year or two.

The best place to look for a replacement battery is eBay. Loads to choose from for around £15. The best guide for replacing the battery is going to be ifixit - https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nexus+7+Battery+Replacement/9895

That said, I do agree with Ben Cole that the first gen Nexus 7 is very slow when running the latest OS versions. I had a 32GB version that I genuinely loved, but for the last six months of it's life I had to be very careful what I used it for - Netflix or a single internet tab was fine once it started, but if any updates needed doing then I HAD to wait for the updates to finish before I could run anything else or else the tablet slowed to a crawl. Multi-tasking was simply impossible. After living with this for a few months, I finally had enough and changed to a newer tablet (actually a Windows 10 one that cost me ~£120) and in all honesty I wish I'd done it months ago. I know everyone is different and you may not be in a position to go for something better/newer, but if you are I really would suggest getting something better rather than spending time & money on flogging a (sadly) dead horse. :(

Thanks guys for ideas but I will not be throwing this tablet out. I didn't pay any for it just £13 that I paid for battery just now. After I fix it I will see how it run as I'm only gone watch movies and surf net on it. I want to install new ROM on it, something little to run fast.

I dont know, I will try and see. You guys do have to know this is my first tablet and if I had a option of buying one myself I would not as it is just bigger version of my phone:P

Fair enough, and good luck. Keep your expectations simple and you will be very happy with the Nexus. As I said, I loved mine for the first couple of years of ownership - it was just with the latest (official) ROMs that it began to bug me, and I never bothered looking into custom ROMs as I wasted far too many hours going down that route with Windows Mobile phones back in the day to want to go back there! :D Plus, I wanted to try out a Windows 10 tablet rather than another Android so it just seemed the right time to upgrade for me.

Enjoy the Nexus. Once you've got it up and running it'll be a lovely toy to play with. :)

Sorry for a bit late update but I did have to wait for new battery and USB port. After replacing battery (it came 90% charge) tablet was up and running but USB was not working so I did buy a new one for £3 with delivery:P So now is up and running with all the updates (stock ROM for now).

After the latest update I end up with audio bug that my table would think that headphones are plugged in all the time (I did fix that with a app[headset toggle]) so I just lick to switch between them speakers/headphones.

Was it worth £20 in total? I think so, mint condition running fast for netflix and some small app. I'm very happy and thanks for help Guys.

Given that you didn't have a tablet before, that's a decent result. Got to be worth £20 for a handy Netflix/browser device.

Tablets are a thing of the passed. I had a Samsung Tab 3 i wanted one cause a lot of people had them after having it 6 months decided to sell it only used it a few times and took it out twice. found using my phone was a lot easier and smaller to use. There ok for people who want to book business appointments exc and Read a lot with the bigger screen. Apart from that waste of money

In the kitchen and the toilet is where tablet belong for most casual users, as they cannot really properly replace the functionality of laptop or PC :D

Congratulations on getting him up and working, and really glad you're happy. Loved my Nexus 7 (more at the start of our relationship than the end, if I'm honest) and for £20 that's a definite bargain!

I have been very surprised how much I've used my tablet since going to a Windows one. Where I used to use my Android tablet for web browsing and watching videos at home (use my phone when out and about), I now use the Windows tablet rather than getting the laptop so have been using it for everything short of gaming. It's really useful for when popping round friends and relatives houses to fix IT issues. I'm now finding my laptop is sitting idle, which really surprised me.

Fair enough if you found that a tablet didn't fit into your usage needs, but I think branding them all a waste of money except those who use it as an eBook reader or a business calendar is an insult to the rich diversity of computer users out there. :)
