For my sins I have just bought the above tablet - I now understand why I hate smart phones.

Right -- Can I turn off screen timer as I find that when reading something it times out after 1min - I increased it to that from 30sec-- What I want is for stupid thing to stay on and when I have finished click or touch something to say - thank you I have finished you can go to sleep now and shut the case.

Good job it was cheap or I would be right peed off.

You can set it to be half an hour?
Settings > Display > Sleep?

Do you not have this option?
Imagine there'll be some 3rd party apps or custom roms that can disable the screen sleep timer! :)

Stick with it, they're alright!

Yep. Settings, display, sleep and then set to as long as you want. 30 mins seems to be the max although I am sure there is a way of making it not sleep at all.

just make it a habit to touch the screen everyone once in a while. What app are you using? If kindle then it has a function that prevents it from sleeping. Trust me its good that they have this function to make it sleep or you battery will drain out pretty quickly

Most video players and ereader, etc. type apps where you might be looking at the screen for a long time without interacting with it usually automatically keep the screen awake longer than normal - either til the video has finished playing or delay it unless you don't turn a page for several minutes.

I had already gone for the 30 min after I posted but I do find these things hard to get my head around - Another thing that's doing my head is blessed WiFi signal - - Got Solwise WiFi homeplug in lounge and full signal - sitting here at PC and using Home hub I get 2 bars - very weak signal so got to see about that. - Our walls are cinder block and seem to make a good job of masking signal - even next door in bedroom it's weak signal - I need home plugs in every room by look of it.
