Nexxos XP CPU water block on 775 socket?

good AND cheap? crickey!

Could it be an Eheim or a Hydor you are using per chance?

IIRC the Nexxos needs a powerful pump, if you can pick up a DD D4 or D5 second hand that would be ideal.

the pump i have looks exactly like this but without the DD metal and logo (looks like its come off at some point as theres residue left behind or it could just be a clone)

C-Systems ?

With a NexXos thats probably the worst pump you could have chosen

Id go with a DD D4 / D5 / Swiftech MCP600 / MCP650 - all basically the same pump, or an AquaXtreme 50Z

Are you switching to a Quad-Core? If so you'd be far better off switching to a D-Tek FuZion or Swiftech Apogee GTX as blocks that worked just fine with single and even dual-cores just don't work efficiently with Quads.

The water block manufacturers are learning all the time and the blocks I'm currently using are light-years ahead of what I had even as recently as this time last year.

The NeXXos was never a top-performing block anyway and I think you would see a big difference with a new block.

I'm going to be clocking a B3 quad with the EK wave you sold me awhile back...it's cooling my e6600 wonderfully. Will be interesting to see how it handles the heat, and I'll probably upgrade to an EK Supreme when I have enough money so we'll see what kind of temp difference it gives.

To the OP, as for a cheap pump your best bet is a hydor, eheim, or even those thermaltake pumps are alright. The P500 has 2m or so lift, around the same as most eheims.

Well, that EK Wave is the CPU block I was using a year ago, and it's massively better that the NeXXos. I'd say you would see a 3-5C drop with the FuZion over the EK Wave. The Supreme? We'll have to wait and see.

Yeah I agree - as good as the overhyped storm anyway (had both). Both have, as WJA said, been surpassed with todays designs and I wouldn't use either to cool a quad.
