Hi guys, i have been battling with the above problems ever since i got an A8N Sli deluxe and the constant problems with Maxtor and Seagate hdd's.

Its got to the point where you cant install the Nvidia storage driver just to avoid the drive getting corrupted.

Question is, have they solved this problem? (I know its a problem spread across everywhere, on every forum for every motherboard manufacturer)

I want to upgrade soon, but do i need to get an ATI chipset to stay stable?

Just found this problem with my Maxtor DM10 250gb.
Weird thing was it ran ok with an Abit AN8 Ultra, but when I "upgraded" to DFI SLi-DR it would not boot. Since found it also won't work on an Asus A8N-SLi, until the workaround below is done.
Now I'm stuck cuz I can't get into Windows to do the NCQ disable workaround or install fresh!!!!

This is all the Nvidia site says

"NVIDIA has received emails from customers experiencing problems with certain NCQ enabled SATA hard drives. NVIDIA is currently working on an updated nForce driver which will address the issues with certain hard drives which have been reported to us by end users. In the meantime, you may disable NCQ on your PC by downloading the file "ncqoff.reg" and then opening the file to add the information to your PC. Alternatively, if this does not resolve your issue, you may instead use the utility "ncq-fix.exe" which will also disable NCQ on your system. You will find both files below in the File Attachments section.

Wish I'd known that before changing to SLi!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That above comment is interesting, but even if NCQ is off many people (including me) still have problems, i dont know if you did, but i didnt bother even installing the storage driver.

I cant believe this problem has been left to run rampant for well over a year
