I need to be able to power one of these off something else other than the small two pin plug it comes with (the kind that normally goes on graphics cards) as the board im putting it on doesnt have one - would I be able to take the end off and change it for one that a case fan normally comes attached to (that connects to the 3 prong connectors on the board) - is the voltage the same and will this work?

Help appreciated, thanks.

Yup, yup and yup. :)

Red to red, black to black, some sticky backed plastic (insulating tape tbh) and you're sorted.

Yes theres no reason why not. I fitted a speed control to a old radeon gfx onboard 2 pin fan, just by unplugging it and relaying it via 3 pin wire to a front panel fan controller. I always forgetting to turn it up though, was very quiet

No cutting required in my case, the 2 pin just had to be jammed onto the 3pin prong
