Hi there,
Got a problem with my nf7 which is really donig my head in
Specs:
1700+ Xp
NF7 V2
GF4 ti4200 64mb
2x512MB Mushkin Blueline
2x 80GB diamondmax 9's
550w EYE-T psu.
Thermalright SP-97 w/ 80mm YSTECH and AS5
now the ram has NEVER done its rated timings (2-2-2-6) in this board or my other nf7, best it could do was 2-3-3-6 at any speed, and it needed 2.8V for this.
so just after christmas i flashed the bios with the D26 manta ray and did the L12 mod, this didnt set the default FSB to 200 but didnt set a defualt at all, and the preset multi/fsb combos changed.
anyway now my board would boot at 250mhz fsb!!! but failed memtest almost instantly. i finally settled for 220x11=2420mhz@ 1.7~V load temps were mid-high 50's and idle were low 40's. All was good until last week. random lock ups crashing etc etc, so i think maybe up the cpu voltage? didnt help. so i droped to 200x10, same problem, so i drop to 166x10, crashes less in windows but memtest LOCKS up on test 5. down to 133x11. works perfect, then i try 133x18=2138mhz, rock stable.
i came to the conclusion its the ram or the mobo casuing the the problem. so i basicly go through the whole rigmarole of stabilty testing again using OCUK value ram (2x512mb) its exaclty the same, ok at 133fsb but anything over instability occurs!
any ideas on the cause of this?? is the mobo dead? have i caused it with the bios and l12 mod?
any ideas?
Ryan.
