NFL 2024 season

Yep the two games for the divisions will be huge, although if the Niners win tonight there's still the No.1 seed and NFC West crown even with the Seattle win over the Panthers. I believe both the Bears and Niners have the h2h/tie breaker on the Seahawks. Even if it's unlikely for the Bears (particularly with these last minute sicknesses), i.e. they don't control their own destiny whereas the Niners do with their game against Seattle next week. So for the NFL again the Niners winning probably gives them a better week 18 contest.

Still crazy to be having this conversation to be honest. How far the Bears have come.
Yes I didn't factor in The Bears have two games left, not one.

Bills lose a defensive thriller against the Eagles. Tough battle in the Rain. Went for 2 to win it but fail.

Bills drop to the 7th seed now and New England with the AFC East.

As it stands but probably will change next week the Bills would play the Patriots in wild card round

Houston up to seed 5 which is mad considering the start they had

Well what a game in Santa Clara, 49ers just hold on in a shootout vs the Bears.

The Bears just falling short on the final play.

No.1 seed gone now for Chicago but if they can hold on to the No.2 seed which with a win vs the Lions will do it, they will face the Packers in the Wild card round which might be better than facing one of the 3 NFC West teams who all might finish 13-4 which is some going, plus it means two home games in the playoffs for the Bears. Having said that they showed tonight they can hang with the potential new NFC favs to reach the Superbowl so doubt they will fear anyone.
Hopefully Burden didn't get a bad injury though on that final play. Took him a while to get up and then went down again.

You were burning the candle and going for it! :)

Shame on the result for the Bears. Need to watch the highlights, but I couldn't do SNF live this week. Although I think the No.2 seed is preferable I also could see the week off for some players as being super beneficial. With the injuries and this flu-bug going around the team shutting down some key players might really help for the play-offs. I think whoever we face is going to be a monumental task to beat anyway.

Although I don't believe it, sometimes the NFL seems scripted as these results have given them loads of massive games to prime time in the final week.

Yes two 5am bed times in a row :D Feeling it a bit today. Same again next weekend and the College playoffs over New Year so stocking up on the coffee:cry:

From last nights game the Bears should hold their own against all the playoff teams. They probably should have won it last night on the final play.

Fair play and I bet you are feeling it. As I get older I struggle more with the early morning games, but obviously is the big negative with following any US sports. I try and avoid it when I can, but I will certainly be watching the Bears in the play-off game. It doesn't happen often!

Just watched the extended highlights of the Bears game. Real slug-fest between the two teams but fair play to the Bears for taking it so close away from home.

I just sometimes think Williams holds onto the ball far too long, like the kid who knows he’s good at footy and dribbles everywhere without passing.
I’m sure it’ll cost us badly at some point or Williams specifically if he takes a big hit.

Still improving which is great to see after the years of mediocrity.

Yes he had an open player on the final play, Loveland or Kmet, can't remember, just had to release it earlier. Still only his second season and I'm not sure his first helped much anyway with the coaches etc back then.

Good fun this final weekend watching the few remaining scenarios play out, but wow do the Bears look cheeks this weekend.

Yes terrible first half from Chicago.

Eagles losing currently so still no.2 seed which would be a wild card v Green Bay

Eagles win and a Bears loss would mean a probable game against the 49ers, unless the Rams lose, then it would be them.

Found it funny they scheduled the so called win and your'e in Tampa v Carolina game yesterday just thinking the Falcons would lose to the Rams last Monday.
Atlanta had other thoughts and messed everything up

It's just awful performances today, hopefully they can use that as motivation, but I would have rested starters personally.

Yea, I hadn't realised the Bucs needed the Falcons loss. But it makes sense the only real 'win and in' game for both teams ends the weekend.

Bears have come out of hibernation.

Washington doing a good job too. Both games for the no.2 seed are currently level in the 4th

Detroit walk off FG to beat the Bears, looking like the Bears need Washington to hold against the Eagles
edit
Well after all that both the Bears and Eagle lose.
No. 2 seed for the Bears.

Never in doubt...

That was all-round crap today, until the 4th quarter. Do that again and the season will end next-week. Although maybe we are just watching the limits of the roster.

Obviously the Eagles will get flack for the decision Sirianni made, but we shall see if the strategy works for them.

Well that was one hell of a 4th quarter to end the regular season.

Who would be a kicker in the NFL, Boswell thought he had blown it for Pittsburgh and then Tyler Loop blows the chance to send Baltimore to the playoffs with a walk off FG miss

The Steelers and Rodgers roll on to the wild card round to face the Houston Texans.

Indeed. Home game for them too, although the Texan's D is very good.

My sense and I might be wrong, is that the AFC has the stronger teams.

Wow, the Ravens Steelers game was kinda crazy! I always feel bad for any player that will feel responsible for a loss, while in reality there are probably 6 to 10 plays that could have been different/better that would mean the kick wasn't needed...

I feel like this post-season is more open than it's been recently, almost any of the teams could win. I guess that's a good thing for teams like the Bears, Jags, Steelers or... well, any of them because 'why not us?!' type thing.

Hard to tell really who are the strongest.

Could come down to who has the better defensive unit which would be Houston, Seattle and Denver. I would say Seattle has the better offense of those three. Houston would have a big chance if they weren't so bad in the redzone. Everything is brilliant until they reach the redzone, then its just so bad which will cost them. 52 FG's attempted, compared to someone like New England who had 32. Hard to win with FG's and expect the defensive to win you the game. Plus they might have the weakest RB group left.

But having said that, if one of the high powered offenses gets going and puts up points then it could be game over.

If the Rams get Adams back at WR then I feel they could be the ones from the NFC, just hope the Eagles get dumped out fast, can't stand Sirianni.

AFC, Denver and New England have been really good, but will the younger QB's handle the pressure, but maybe people are overlooking The Jaguars. They might have the best all round team.

Does feel very open though like Andy says above.

It is open, definitely agree. Just not having the Chiefs alone makes it that, but then not having clear cut number 1 teams also makes it true.

Even so I just look at the NFC and see question marks on every team, sometimes multiple. But I also think we're getting into that time of year when defense's matter and in that sense it feels like there's some stronger units in the AFC. Will be fun to watch, albeit the Packers @ Bears got an awful slot from a UK-time.
