does anyone know if nforce3 250gb motherboards support x2 processors as ive read on their manufacturer's websites that they support athlon 64s and fx's with no mentions of dual core.

The two I want to upgrade are a Gigabyte K8nsc and an Epox 9nda3i.

thanks for any help,
ghgh

hi there

nice overclock btw.

ive got the 9nda3i though and not the 9n3da+, mine hasnt got the ultra chipset I don`t think, just the 250gb one. Maybe the 250gb chipset doesnt support dual core (officially at least) but the ultra does.

I might just buy a 4000+ for it and see if it will overclock nicely as i`ve seen some clocked at >3GHz stable.

on the gigabyte I have a 3500+ @ 2.6 but can do 2.907 stable, and on the epox a 3700+ San diego,

I have a Gigabyte K8NS Ultra 939 and there is a bios update on their site to support X2 CPU's. That should be all you will need.

hey, thanks for that, I will update the bios and see if it'll run with an X2

thanks for all the replies, they have been very helpful as usual.

I think im going to order either a 3800 or 4200+ X2 for the gigabyte and then put the 3500+ in my main rig and sell the 3700+ which doesnt overclock well.

nice one dude, I didnt see anywhere that the epox supported dual core thats in my main pc so its the best option to upgrade it.

thanks again
