Hey,

Might order It as I can get it for around £15.

Wreckon it's any good? I enjoy a good racing game, especially if it's multiplayer based.

Do you use your offline care online?

Many people playing?

how popular around ocuk is it?

Thanks

It's um... alright.

However, DiRT2 on the other hand is awesome! Half way between an arcade and a sim racer IMO, so not too realistic like some F1 games, but still good handling and not the kinda 'don't take your finger of the accelerator button' game :p

This^. Shift feels a bit "weird" to play, try the demos and see what you think. Dirt 2 is awesome in driver view, drift-tastic!

It depends. Shift if you want (closer to) simulation. Dirt if you just want to have a laugh, foot to the floor, with plenty of rock music and 'mental' jumps etc (that would rip the suspension out of any normal rally car, but are fun in-game!).

Both are great if you ask me. Shift with traction control turned off is very close to 'proper' simulations like R-factor - which a lot of players will find frustrating (for example floor a powerful rear-wheel car in a COMPLETELY STRAIGHT LINE with traction control off and you'll just lose it and plough into the side as the back-end of your car tries to overtake you!! It's a real challenge of driving only for the headstrong!)

I like the driving in shift but I hate the game format. It's just dull. Dirt2 is a much more complete and fun game IMO.

Spending half you're time going through pointless '3d' menu gimmicks and marketing/branding drivel just to have a damn race, is not my idea of fun. It's the same crap EA did with NFS:Prostreet which was a total flop.

The only thing that saves Dirt2 is that, the actual game underneath all that crap, is pretty decent as its based on GRID which I liked very much.

Shift still has some pointless gimmicks attached, but it keeps it fairly minimal and focuses more on the actual racing.

I would demo it first, even though I have a quad and ati 5850 performance was lacking, this wasn't however an nvidia problem. This made me less enjoy the game as it needs to run smooth and this can be hard in the built up areas
